Breaking Boundaries with Ruby Bridges

Just 63 years ago, Ruby Bridges became the first Black child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana after segregation was struck down by the Supreme Court. Kai XR’s Ruby Bridges virtual experience helps students understand the impact that racism and segregation has had on our society while enabling them to marvel at the strength and resiliency of Ruby Bridges, who at just six years old became a Civil Rights icon and faced threats so great that she had to be escorted by U.S. Marshals to and from school, and her entire family.

Take a Swing at Equity at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

In this adventure, students take a trip to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, to learn about the history that led to the formation of the Negro Leagues in the 1920s, including the exclusion of African-American baseball players from Major League Baseball (MLB). Importantly, students can also learn about the critical role that three African-American women played as they broke both racial and gender boundaries to play in the Negro Leagues.
