What is AI?

Have you ever played a video game that got harder the more you played it? 

That’s because the game’s AI is learning from you! It watches how you play and makes changes to keep the game fun.

Now imagine playing a game with a friend. Your friend can think, plan, and change their moves. When you play alone, the game’s AI tries to do the same thing. It “thinks” about what you might do next and then makes its move.

AI stands for artificial intelligence. It’s a type of computer program that can:

• learn,
• change behavior,
• and often get better in doing a task over time.

AI helps people and machines do tasks that usually need human thinking.

• A calculator always follows the same steps to solve a problem.
• A light switch just turns the lights on and off.
• A clock only tells time.

These tools don’t change or adapt.  

Tools with AI are different because they can learn from what it sees or hears. It then uses that information to make decisions.
